The Syracuse Orange will miss the NCAA tournament for the fifth straight year after being knocked out of the tournament by North Carolina in the Round of 32.

The Syracuse players were playing in the Sweet 16 when they were called up for the NCAA Tournament.
They had lost to UNC by 20 points and had to play in the Elite Eight.
They played in the first round and lost to Baylor, who won by 12 points.
After the game, coach Jim Boeheim said he didn’t think his team was going to win the game.
They were just getting warmed up, he said.
Syracuse lost to Kentucky in the second round.
The Orange were eliminated in the NCAA Championship Game.
The final standings:The Orange have a tie for seventh in the ACC and are 14th in the Big East.
The Panthers are 12th in Conference USA and are in the same spot as Syracuse.
The Orange will play in next year’s NCAA Tournament in Syracuse.
How did it happen?
The Orange lost their first two games in the tournament, losing by seven and 16 points respectively.
The losses started with a loss to Clemson on Dec. 22, which came with six players on the bench.
Sophomore point guard Tyler Davis said after the game that he didn, too.
He played all 82 minutes of that game and finished with 20 points.
Sage Johnson and junior guard Jordan Clarkson both scored 20 points each in the win over North Carolina.
The loss to UNC in the semifinal knocked the Orange out of this year’s tournament.
The win over Baylor gave the Orange a chance to finish in the top three of the ACC standings.
Syracuse lost its last two games before the matchup with North Carolina, but still ended the season ranked fourth in the nation.
The Panthers lost to Villanova in the national championship game.
The tournament’s top four teams, which will be announced on Monday, will play for a berth in the 2019 NCAA Tournament, which begins on Jan. 5 in St. Louis.
The ACC’s top three seeds will play each other in the championship game, and the second-seeded Syracuse will host the No. 2 seed.
