Posted November 03, 2018 17:03:10 A 17-year-old student from Perth’s Grossmont College has been charged with a racially aggravated assault of another student.
The 17-yr-old was arrested last night.
Police said the assault occurred during the evening of November 2.
It was reported to the school’s Anti-Discrimination and Equality Committee (ADEC) after the incident.
The alleged victim was a woman who attended the college as part of a group.
Police say the assault took place between 7:00pm and 7:15pm at a friend’s residence.
The woman was assaulted and arrested without incident.
She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police have not revealed the charges.
The ADEC has been made aware of the incident and is investigating.
The university says it is aware of concerns about racism and the need for increased awareness of racism on campus.
The college is an independent, community-based college with more than 1,000 students.
