An online hoax threatening to detonate a bomb at a school in New York has been debunked.
According to the NYPD, the hoaxer posted on Facebook that a bomb would be planted on the school’s campus, and asked if anyone could help.
He also asked if students could take a break and avoid the risk.
The bomb was eventually defused, and the school is now working to make sure the incident never happened again.
The post was shared nearly 1,200 times on the hoaxes site Facebook, with more than 20 people reporting being contacted by the hoax caller.
Police and school officials have since been on alert for any suspicious incidents, including the recent explosion at a church in the same borough.
